MARKETPLACE  REGISTRATION OPENS AT RECORD-SETTING PACE

Operators and other delegates from all over North America are already registering for Marketplace 2013 in Charlotte N.C. at a record-setting pace.

Drawn by the prospect of bringing home an average of $78,000 in booked business, almost 1000 delegates have registered for the January show in less than one week.

“We’re thrilled that so many delegates have already registered for Marketplace 2013,” said ABA President & CEO Peter J. Pantuso, CTIS.  “It usually takes six to eight weeks before this many people register, and this year we’ve hit that mark in less than seven days.  It is a testament to the fact that members know Marketplace is where they will get the best R+ROI (Relationships+Return On Investment).”

The number of registrations has increased among all delegate types, with the most significant bump coming from operator buyer delegates. 312 buyer delegates have registered for the show, including hundreds of appointment-takers.  More than 80% of the appointment-takers from Marketplace 2012 have already committed with more registering every hour.

What’s driving the brisk pace of registrations? It might be the fantastic early bird discounts ABA is offering to delegates who sign up early. Or it might be the industry leading return on investment that delegates get from Marketplace. A new study published last month showed that most Marketplace 2012 delegates generated $30 in booked business for every dollar they spent on attending the show.

“People flock to Marketplace every year because they know it is THE group travel show where business gets done,” said Pantuso.  “And if these preliminary registration numbers are any indicator, delegates to Marketplace 2013 can expect to book a record amount of business when they come to Charlotte.”
